Have you ever been in a situation where you’ve needed to shoot some video on the fly, but didn’t have a cameraman close by to get the footage? The founders of Swivl saw this as a unique opportunity to fill void in the marketplace,
This week Vladimir Tetelbaum, co-founder of Swivl drops in to chat with us about this innovative new device and share how it came to be.
Many of you already know that this is one of my favorite gadgets of 2012. I had the pleasure of getting a lot of “ooos” and “ahhhhs” at Podcamp Nashville when I slipped my iphone into the Swivl dock, turned on the lanyard and walked across the stage. People were blown away when they saw this little portable cameraman track me as I moved back and forth.
I was stoked to have Vlad agree to come on the show and not only share the story about Swivl’s development, but also give us the inside scoop as to what’s in store for this “portable cameraman”.
CD or Digital Download
Paul is producing a CD of kids songs that he plans to sell online. He wants to know if he should be selling the physical CDs or make the songs available via digital download. Normally I’m a big fan of offering digital downloads for products. It makes your products much easier to produce and sell with no overhead cost. However in this case, we discuss Paul’s target market – “Mom’s in mini-vans”.
Even though newer cars are equipped for plugging in ipods and iphones, most people still like the idea of sticking a physical CD in the cd player. We’ll be discussing why we think this target market would prefer audio CDs.
We do mention that if Paul wants to make these songs available for download, then the place he needs to list them is iTunes. The best way to do this is by using an Apple approved aggregator like TuneCore.
Digital Download for Video
On a similar note, Michael wants to make his physical DVDs available for digital download, but he’s not sure how to do this effectively; plus, he’s concerned with download problems and protecting the downloads from piracy. We’ll be talking about how Michael can do this pretty easily using one of our favorite video players.
Awesome testimonial from Melanie
Melanie writes in with some really cool things about our show. I’ll use Melanie’s own words:
“I haven’t been able to listen to the lastest shows. my sceduele changed at work and now i am a manager which means I can’t ignore people and listen to your podcast on my ipod. now i have to play babysitter in the corporate world. yeah!
I was wondering if you are still going to do the niche classes again this fall and if so when do i apply and how much. I am really interested. I have been listening to your show for about 2yrs now…..having withdrawls 🙂 now!
I have started a few websites but i just feel bogged down and on info overload and don’t really know where to start anymore. plus i think i need the encouragement. everyone around me thinks i am crazy for thinking i can make money online. Help? Thank you for your time and inspiration! God bless you for that!”
My advice would be don’t get discouraged Melanie! Building a successful online business takes time, and anyone who tells you otherwise is blowing smoke. And yes, we will be having another niche website webinar coming up again in September, so stay tuned for the dates!
We’ll be taking these questions and more!
Enjoy the show and have a great week! 😀
