This past week we wrapped up our 4 week Niche website training by having a final Q&A session this past Thursday. One of our members commented that it was tough finding time to work on his online business now that he’s taken a new full time job.
I imagine a lot of people find themselves in this situation – working a regular job while trying to find time to work on their side business. In our newsletter this week, I wrote about a great example of someone who did just this by turning his drive time into income.
Jack Spirko of the Survival Podcast started his online business years ago by recording short podcast episodes to and from work. He used a pocket digital recorder and an inexpensive lapel mic. As he left for work, he would hit the record button and start talking. By the time he got home, he would have content ready to post online. Easy as that! He now has a huge following and generates a significant income from advertising on his site.
This is a great way to turn drive time into content. This is why I’m such a big fan of podcasting; you can create content on the go. If you record a 15 minute podcast segment everyday driving home from work, you can generate about 260 episodes of content in one year.
I’ve recorded a number of podcast segments while traveling with my handy Zoom H4n Recorder. You can go with a high quality recorder like that one or use the digital audio recorder on your iPhone to begin with if you’re on a budget. This little device improves your iPhone audio recording greatly.
We’ll be talking about this on our show this week, as well as discussing some more great questions:
Which Wacom Tablet Do We Recommend?
Doug asks which of the Wacom tablets we recommend for creating screencast drawing videos. I’m a huge fan of the Wacom Bamboo Create Pen and Touch Tablet. I’ve used mine for doing videos, webinar presentations, and drawing graphic illustrations for Video Scribe. You can find them on Amazon at different price ranges.
Screencast.com or Amazon S3?
James says he wants to move away from relying on YouTube for all of his videos and wants to know why we prefer Amazon S3 as opposed to other video hosting services like Screencast.com. We’ll be talking about why we prefer Amazon S3.
How to Use a Powerpoint Presentation During My Interviews.
Madeline has an interesting question. She is wanting to show a powerpoint presentation during webinars where she is interviewing a guest. She’s wondering if the best way to do this is during live webinar or through editing on the backend. We’ll be talking about different ways to do this.
Why is Google changing it’s Adsense payment method?
Tim wants to know why Google has suddenly changed their payment method and if they have another option to sharing your checking account number and routing number for the direct deposit.
We’ll be discussing all of this and much more!
