If you’re wondering what “SUAS” stands for, it’s Small Unmanned Aerial System, or drone technology.
Before interviewing Patrick, I never would have considered this as a niche for podcasting, but as I’m constantly reminded – the world’s a huge place with so many segmented interests.
I love this interview because it’s a perfect example of becoming the “Obvious Expert” in your field of expertise through the power of audio and video podcasting. Most anyone can do this in their field if they put in the effort of getting content out regularly.
Patrick has used podcasting as a platform for over two years to talk about drone technology. In addition to his regular podcast, Patrick has launched Drone TV where he offers video tips and interviews with leading experts in the field.
His show has grown to over 250,000 downloads on Blog Talk Radio, and he’s now been able to use the show’s success to land consulting work and paid speaking events all over the country. Because of this, Patrick is now seeking an agent to help him with scheduling.
Here is one of his recent Ted talks:
- Why timing is sometimes very important when launching a podcast
- Why the size of your audience is not as important as the quality of your audience
- How to use your podcast and social media to build important connections within your industry (He gets contacted a lot through Linked In for consulting and speaking).
- And much more!
Patrick’s experience in the field includes assignments with the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command Battle Lab, investigating solutions on the future warfare research projects. Instructor for LTA (Lighter than Air) ISR systems deployment teams for an OSD, US Special Operations Command, Special Surveillance Project.
He’s also the President of Silicon Valley Chapter of AUVSI (Association of Unmanned Vehicles Systems International).
Enjoy the interview and have a great week!
