On this week’s episode, I spend some time discussing self publishing, and sharing some takeaways from my latest book project on “Golf and Business”. One of the key objectives in publishing is determining how you will be different from the rest. How will your book be a “purple cow” in a field of brown cows.
Consider the example below. Both books are on selling. Both cover “growing your sales” through relationship building. If I’m a golfer, which book am I likely to read more? Exactly.
As you know last year, I decided to create this unique book on business building. I wanted to publish a book on selling and relationship building. But I wanted to develop a different perspective; not just another boring sales book filled with re-tread sales strategies and corporate case studies.
I’ll discuss some of the setbacks in getting this book published, and some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way.
Important Takeaways I’ll be Covering:
- How to make your book stand out in a crowd of other similar books
- Why I decided not to go hardback on this book like I originally planned
- Why CreateSpace is still the best option for self publishing in my opinion
- Why collaborative publishing works so well when it comes to sales and marketing
