Undoubtedly, many people received tablet computers for Christmas yesterday; and unlike the old Kindle readers, tablets like the iPad and the Nexus 7 allow book enthusiasts to experience the book rather than just reading it.
Enhanced e-books in addition to standard text, feature video, music, graphic and links relevant to the story – fiction or non-fiction. These types of ebooks can be experienced on tablets, the iPad, the smart phone, or your lap-top computer. All you need is an Internet connection and a Kindle app.
This week our guest, NY Times bestselling author Alina Adams talks about turning your boring “text-only ebooks” into interactive storybook platforms.
Alina is a pioneer in online storytelling. She was born in the Soviet Union and immigrated with her parents to the U.S. at age seven, where she learned English by watching soap operas at their home in San Francisco.
Her knowledge of Russian took her around the world as a figure skating researcher and television producer for ABC, NBC, TNT and ESPN. She used her experience to write a series of figure skating mysteries (Murder on Ice, On Thin Ice, Axel of Evil, Death Drop, Skate Crime) for Berkley Prime Crime publishing.
After these books became paperback bestsellers, Alina was able to get the rights back to this series and re-released them as enhanced ebooks, with skating video included as part of the story.
She’s also published the work of other writers who wanted to re-release their titles as enhanced ebooks. In addition to being an accomplished author, Alina also helps other published authors turn their books into Enhanced interactive ebooks.
